  1. Question 1 · Maths

Read all four statements. Which one is NOT correct?

    1. A.A triangle has three corners.
    2. B.A rectangle has three sides.
    3. C.A triangle has three sides.
    4. D.A rectangle has four corners.
    Show answer

Answer: B. A rectangle has three sides.

Take the statements one at a time and check each against the shape it names. A rectangle is closed by four straight sides. Three straight sides make a triangle.

  2. Question 2 · Maths

    Boxes hold 7, 11, 15, ?, 23, 27 squares. How many squares are hidden?

    1. A.16 squares
    2. B.19 squares
    3. C.18 squares
    4. D.8 squares
    Show answer

    Answer: B. 19 squares

Work out the jump first: 7 to 11 to 15 goes up by 4 each time. So add 4 to 15 to fill the empty box, and check it by taking 4 away from 23 - both give the same number.

  3. Question 3 · Maths

Vihaan has 14 marbles. Each bag holds 5 marbles. How many more marbles are needed to fill one more bag?

    1. A.5
    2. B.4
    3. C.2
    4. D.1
    Show answer

    Answer: D. 1

Taking away 5 marbles at a time fills 2 bags and leaves 4 over. A full bag needs 5, so 5 − 4 = 1 more would fill one.

  4. Question 4 · Science

In each group the odd one is put in brackets. Which group has the wrong word in brackets?

    1. A.River, Pond, Lake, [Road]
    2. B.Eye, Ear, Nose, [Shoe]
    3. C.Shirt, Cap, Socks, [Spoon]
    4. D.Tree, Boy, Chair, [Cat]
    Show answer

Answer: D. Tree, Boy, Chair, [Cat]

Cat, Tree and Boy are living things that grow and need food, but a chair does not grow, feed or breathe. So Chair is the odd one in that group, and Cat should not have been put in brackets.

  5. Question 5 · Science

Which of these is NOT made by people?

    1. A.Bus
    2. B.River
    3. C.Paper
    4. D.Pencil
    Show answer

    Answer: B. River

A river flows in nature and nobody built it. All three of the others are made by people.

  6. Question 6 · English

Yesterday, Ravi ___ to the park.

    1. A.Walks
    2. B.Walking
    3. C.Walked
    4. D.Walk
    Show answer

    Answer: C. Walked

We say: Yesterday, Ravi walked to the park. 'Yesterday' tells us it already happened, so walk becomes walked.

  7. Question 7 · English

Read the sentence: The big dog barks loudly. Which word tells how the action is done?

    1. A.Big
    2. B.Dog
    3. C.Barks
    4. D.Loudly
    Show answer

    Answer: D. Loudly

'Loudly' tells how the action is done. 'Barks' is often picked, but 'barks' is the action itself, not how it is done.

  8. Question 8 · Logical Reasoning

Which one is the odd one out?

    1. A.Pilot
    2. B.Ferry
    3. C.Helicopter
    4. D.Bicycle
    Show answer

    Answer: A. Pilot

Pilot belongs with people who do jobs; all the other words are ways to travel.

  9. Question 9 · Logical Reasoning

The letters of RAINBOW stand in a line. What place is O from the right?

    1. A.7
    2. B.1
    3. C.6
    4. D.2
    Show answer

    Answer: D. 2

Count the letters first: RAINBOW has 7 of them, and O is letter 6 counting from the left. Place from the right = 7 − 6 + 1 = 2. The +1 is because the letter itself is counted too.

  10. Question 10 · Computers

Ravi typed SPEAKWER. The cursor is at the start. Which key, pressed how many times, puts it just before the extra letter?

    1. A.Right arrow key, 2 times
    2. B.Right arrow key, 5 times
    3. C.Left arrow key, 3 times
    4. D.Right arrow key, once
    Show answer

Answer: B. Right arrow key, 5 times

The extra letter is the W, and there are 5 letters before the W. Each press of the arrow moves the cursor one letter to the right.
