  1. Question 1 · Maths

In the number 482, what is the value of the digit 2?

    1. A.2
    2. B.80
    3. C.20
    4. D.200
    Show answer

    Answer: A. 2

Counting from the right, the 2 in 482 is in the ones place, so it is worth 2 × 1 = 2.

  2. Question 2 · Maths

Asha buys a kite for ₹37 and pays with a ₹50 note. How much change does she get back?

    1. A.₹23
    2. B.₹3
    3. C.₹13
    4. D.₹37
    Show answer

    Answer: C. ₹13

    Change is what comes back: ₹50 − ₹37 = ₹13. Check it the other way: ₹37 + ₹13 = ₹50.

  3. Question 3 · Maths

Nikhil has ₹50. One notebook costs ₹7. What is the greatest number of notebooks Nikhil can buy?

    1. A.1
    2. B.7
    3. C.6
    4. D.49
    Show answer

    Answer: B. 7

7 of them cost 7 × ₹7 = ₹49, which can be paid. One more would cost ₹56, which is more than ₹50. So the greatest number is 7, with ₹1 left over.

  4. Question 4 · Maths

How many seconds are there in 5/12 of a minute?

    1. A.12 seconds
    2. B.25 seconds
    3. C.60 seconds
    4. D.5 seconds
    Show answer

    Answer: B. 25 seconds

Start from the whole unit: one minute is 60 seconds. Splitting that into 12 equal parts gives 5 seconds in each part, and the question asks for 5 of those parts.

  5. Question 5 · Maths

Vihaan has 55 crayons. Each box holds 6 crayons. How many crayons are left over after the boxes are filled?

    1. A.9
    2. B.1
    3. C.6
    4. D.5
    Show answer

    Answer: B. 1

Taking away 6 crayons at a time fills 9 boxes and leaves 1 over. The number left over is 1.

  6. Question 6 · Maths

    Box P holds 342, Q holds 324, R holds 432, S holds 423. Which order goes smallest to greatest?

    1. A.Q, P, R, S
    2. B.P, Q, S, R
    3. C.Q, S, P, R
    4. D.Q, P, S, R
    Show answer

    Answer: D. Q, P, S, R

Compare digit by digit from the left, never by how long a number looks: 324 < 342 < 423 < 432. Then read off whose box each one is, in that order.

  7. Question 7 · Logical Reasoning

What is Arjun's father's brother's son to Arjun?

    1. A.uncle
    2. B.nephew
    3. C.brother
    4. D.cousin
    Show answer

    Answer: D. cousin

Your father's brother is your uncle, and your uncle's son is your cousin.

  8. Question 8 · Logical Reasoning

How is Sara's daughter's daughter related to Sara?

    1. A.daughter
    2. B.granddaughter
    3. C.grandmother
    4. D.grandson
    Show answer

    Answer: B. granddaughter

Take the chain one step at a time. Sara's daughter is one step down the family, and that person's daughter is another step down. So that person is Sara's granddaughter.
